First death in India due to suspected coronavirus reported from Ladakh

The first death in the country due to the suspected coronavirus was on Sunday reported from a hospital in Leh in the union territory of Ladakh.

This could be the first death case of India ever since the outbreak of the virus. A total number of four positive virus patients have been detected in the UTs of J&K and Ladakh.

73-year-old Ali Mohammad, who hailed from Yaukuma Chochuk village in Leh, was among the two suspected coronavirus patients quarantined on 7 March in the Sonam Narbu Hospital following the complaint of high fever. He had returned last month from Iran after performing a pilgrimage.

However, Ringzin Semphal, Secretary of Tourism of Ladakh, said anything could be said only after the test report of the deceased was received.
