China eager to increase defense cooperation with India

China has expressed keenness to increase defense cooperation with India. According to Chinese Ambassador Sun Waidong, all kinds of cooperation in both countries should be encouraged for regional peace and stability. In an interview to news agency PTI, Weidong said that the positive results of the second round of informal talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping are now visible. He claimed that over three and a half thousand km long border between India and China is being coordinated for the last few months. At the same time, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will come to India this month to hold border talks.

They will review the compliance of the decisions taken in the talks at Mamallapuram.

Respects India’s Decision On Rsep: China
Weidong said that high level economic and trade talks between the two countries are also going on. This will give impetus to bilateral trade and investment. Weidong said that China understands and respects India’s decision on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (ARSEP).

India had distanced itself from it last month expressing its concerns. According to Weidong, China is keen to work with all stakeholders to resolve issues related to it. He said that the bilateral relations of two large developing countries with one billion population are of global importance.

Old raga on Kashmir: asked to avoid taking unilateral steps
He reiterated the position of China on the Kashmir issue as consistent and clear and said that all sides should resolve the issues through dialogue in peace. Any kind of unilateral step should be avoided, this complicates things.

On the border dispute, Weidong said that the Special Representative of China would hold talks with India on the points decided in 2005 and both would try to arrive at an acceptable solution. Please tell that both sides have already held 20 rounds of talks. China claims Arunachal Pradesh as South Tibet, while India declares it an integral part.
