Man throws sanitiser on girlfriend’s face, burns her using lighter after she refuses to give him Rs 2,000
Chandigarh: In a shocking incident reported from Chandigarh, a 22-year-old woman from Shillong was allegedly burnt using a sanitizer by her boyfriend after she refused to lend him a sum of Rs 2,000 last week. The survivor was admitted with 20 per cent burns in a local hospital.
The incident took place on the intervening night of July 6 and 7. The accused, identified as Naresh, asked his girlfriend Damini (name changed) to lend him Rs 2,000. Damini refused to give him the money. Irked over the refusal, he allegedly threw sanitizer on her face. Then he burnt her using a lighter.

Later, neighbours learnt about it and rushed Damini to the hospital for administering medical aid.
Survivor was in live-in relationship
According to a report by Hindustan Times, Damini had relocated to Chandigarh in December 2019. She bonded with Naresh from Burail and they began living together.
Damini filed a police complaint against Naresh after getting discharged from the hospital. She told the police that he often assaulted her for money. Based on her complaint, police booked Dinesh under IPC sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation). He was arrested to judicial custody on Saturday.
Another incident: Man stabs ex-girlfriend to death in full public view
In another incident, a 30-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her former boyfriend at a busy market in Gujarat’s Junagarh district last month. Reportedly, the victim, identified as Bhavna Sonu Goswami, had ended her relationship with accused Sanjay.
Sanjay continuously harassed Goswami to resume the relationship but she refused. He decided to murder her after he learnt that she had begun a relationship with another man.
