Vocational training centers, not internment camps in Xinjiang: China

China on Sunday said that reports of action against Muslims in Xinjiang province on the basis of religion are completely baseless. There is no internment camp here, but vocational training centers have been set up to combat terrorism, fundamentalism and extremism. China’s statement comes after several countries in the world expressed concern over the atrocities on Uygar Muslims in Xinjiang. Chinese Ambassador Sun Waidong said that Xinjiang has been a victim of terrorism and religious fundamentalism since 1990. Anti-terrorism measures, including the establishment of training centers, have led to a significant decline.
