
Telangana – Doctor turns tractor driver to take body to graveyard
Peddapalli: A doctor in Peddapalli turned into a tractor driver to take the body of a Covid-19 patient to the crematorium after the latter died in a hospital on Sunday. Though the incident took place on Sunday, it came to light on Monday with visuals of Dr Sriram, wearing PPE kit, driving the tractor himself with the body went viral on social media platforms.
A 43-year-old person from Thenuguwada in the town died of Covid-19, and there was no ambulance available to take the body to the graveyard. Consequently, the hospital requested the municipal authorities to arrange a tractor to take the body to crematorium.

The municipal driver, who brought the tractor to the hospital, parked the vehicle near the isolation ward, refused to take the body and left the spot.
With nobody coming forward to drive the vehicle even after an hour, Dr Sriram himself drove the tractor, wearing a PPE kit. He also waited at the crematorium till the last rites were completed.
Dr Sriram, who works with TB hospital, Sultanabad, was appointed as District Surveillance Officer for Covid-19 cases. Local people appreciated the doctor for his kindness and commitment to duty.
After coming to know about the incident, Health Minister Eatala Rajender spoke to DMHO Pramod Kumar and DCH Vasudeva Reddy and enquired about the entire episode in the morning.
