Assam: 12-year-old girl raped by class 10th students after inviting her for house party

Seven boys, who appeared for their class 10 board exams, were arrested for allegedly raping and murdering a 12-year-old girl in Assam’s Biswanath district, said police.

The girl was hanged from a tree after the crime that took place on Friday in Chakla village under the jurisdiction of Gohpur police station, police stated on Sunday.

A senior police personnel told new agency PTI that the culprits, all of them High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinees, were nabbed by a police team on Sunday.

After the exam, the accused had invited the victim to a house on the pretext of organising a party and raped her, the police officer said.

It is suspected that the girl was raped onFriday and then hanged from a tree in a forest close to the house, the police said.

Her body was recovered on Saturday.
