Mollywood star Shamna Kasim who is popular by her stage name Poorna in Kollywood will play the role of Sasikala in ‘Thalaivi’, the biopic on Jayalalithaa. According to reports, she replaced ‘Paruthiveeran’ fame actress Priya Mani in the movie.

Though reports claimed that Priya has been roped for Sasikala’s role in the movie, the actress did not make any official statement regarding this. Sources revealed that Priya was forced to quit the movie as she is busy with other projects.

Two days ago, Shamna took to Instagram and revealed about her role in the movie.

‘Delighted to announce that I am now officially part of Thalaivi Movie, directed by AL Vijay.

It’s truly a wonderful opportunity to be associated with the biopic of the Iron Lady J Jayalalitha ma’am and to work alongside Kangana Ranaut and Arvind Swami,’ wrote Shamna by sharing first look poster of the movie.

‘Thalaivi’ is a biopic of Jayalalithaa, who was a film star and renowned dancer before she forayed into politics, and went on to become Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

The film stars Kangana Ranaut as Jayalalithaa. “Thalaivi” will be released in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu.
