However, whenever the international price of crude oil decreases or the Indian rupee is strengthened against the US dollar, then the price of petrol-diesel decreases. But as we told you that India imports about 80 per cent of its oil requirement, and that is why the country’s precious foreign exchange is spent on it. In such a situation, the Modi Government is trying that the public should use more and more electric vehicles. At the same time, the Modi Government is constantly trying to use the methanol blended fuel into the market as soon as possible. If the Modi Government succeeds in doing this, then it will reduce the price of petrol historically.
Experts believe that if methanol blended fuel is sold in the market; it can reduce the price of one liter of petrol directly by Rs 10 per liter. At the same time, scientists believe that the use of this fuel will reduce the level of pollution by about 30 per cent. For your information, let us know that due to the use of methanol blended fuel in the market, India will also have to reduce the import of crude oil and doing so will save a huge amount of foreign exchange.
According to the information, at present, about 10 per cent ethanol-blended fuel is used in the country. However, at present, the cost of ethanol is around Rs 42 per liter, which is much more expensive than methanol, as the cost of methanol blended fuel is currently around Rs 20 per liter. By the way, Indian Oil is already producing methanol blended fuel, which contains 15 per cent methanol and 85 per cent petrol. But, for your information, let us know that at this time its production is low and the production that is taking place is being used commercially. According to experts, if 15 per cent of the methane is blended in the fuel, it could save the country about $ 100 billion by 2030.
Actually, India is the third-largest oil importing country in the world. For your information, let us tell you that India imports about 114.5 billion dollars of crude oil every year. India consumes 2,900 crore liters of petrol and 9,000 crore liters of diesel every year. Currently, methanol is being manufactured in Assam Petrochemicals, which currently has a production capacity of 100 tonnes per day. It is expected that by April 2020 next year, this production will increase by 6 times to 600 tonnes per day. If methanol blended fuel is available in the country as soon as possible, it will reduce the price of petrol by at least Rs 10 per liter and reduce environmental pollution, while saving a huge amount of foreign exchange which can be used for development works.
