NEW DELHI,
Unknown people entered Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s residence, asked to take selfie; Priyanka Gandhi’s office lodged a complaint with CRPF. Last month, SPG security of Gandhi family was lifted.
After the withdrawal of SPG security, the news of the failure of security of Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has been revealed last week. The CRPF is currently handling the responsibility of Priyanka Gandhi’s security. The case dates back to last week when unknown people entered their residence despite the security cordon of CRPF.
According to PTI sources, there was a lapse in security at the house of Lodhi Estate of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress General Secretary. A week ago unknown persons entered her residence without prior knowledge and asked for a selfie. Priyanka Gandhi’s office has lodged a complaint with the CRPF, investigations are on.
Additional DCP Deepak Yadav of New Delhi said that, no complaint has been received in the local police station about the entry of any unauthorized vehicle into Priyanka Gandhi’s house.
It is noteworthy that the Center had withdrawn SPG (Special Protection Group) security from the family of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi last month and provided ‘Z Plus’ security of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in its place.
The CRPF commandos under Z Plus security provide protection to these leaders at home and traveling anywhere in the country.
There was a lot of uproar over the removal of SPG security of Gandhi family and the Congress also protested about it. In Parliament too, there was a fierce struggle on this issue and the proceedings of the House had to be postponed. Several opposition parties, including the Congress, surrounded the BJP in the Lok Sabha and accused it of revenge politics. At the same time, Home Minister Amit Shah responded to this while discussing the SPG Amendment Bill.
Without naming anyone, he had said that whatever changes were made in the SPG security rules till now, they have changed for the first time keeping in mind the safety of the PM. He said that the SPG is for the protection of the Prime Minister, it will not be used as a status symbol.
At the same time, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kishan Reddy said that I do not know about it yet, I am coming from Lok Sabha. I will go and discuss it with my officers.
