American rapper TI slammed for saying he takes his daughter to gynae every year to check her hymen

American rapper T.I. received massive backlash online for his comments on a podcast. He said that he takes his daughter to doctor every year to check if her hymen is intact.

Rapper and actor, T.I. is being criticised massively online for saying that he gets his daughter’s hymen checked at the gynecologist every year to see if it is still intact.

The rapper made the problematic comment in a podcast that he appeared on recently, which was aired on Tuesday. The rapper was giving an interview to Nazanin Mandi and Nadia Moham on Ladies Like Us where he was asked about his parenting skills and whether he has had sex talk with his daughter.
He then answered the question by talking about how he deals with these things with his 18-year-old daughter, Deyjah Harris.
T.I. said, “Not only have we had the conversation – we have yearly trips to the gynecologist to check her hymen.” His daughter is in her first year of college. He further added that when his daughter turned 16, he went to her room after her birthday party and “put a sticky note on the door: ‘Gyno. Tomorrow. 9:30.'”

The rapper also said in the interview, “So we’ll go and sit down and the doctor comes and talk, and the doctor’s maintaining a high level of professionalism.”

“He’s like, You know, sir, I have to, in order to share information’ I’m like, ‘Deyjah, they want you to sign this so we can share information. Is there anything you would not want me to know? See, Doc? Ain’t no problem,'” he further added.
Further in the interview T.I. also revealed that during one of the sittings with the gynecologist, the doctor told the duo that the hymen could be broken in many other ways other than sexual intercourse.

“And so then they come and say, ‘Well, I just want you to know that there are other ways besides sex that the hymen can be broken like bike riding, athletics, horseback riding, and just other forms of athletic physical activity,'” the doctor told T.I.
To which T.I. replied saying, “So I say, ‘Look, Doc, she don’t ride no horses, she don’t ride no bike, she don’t play no sports. Just check the hymen, please, and give me back my results expeditiously.'” After which he added, “I will say, as of her 18th birthday, her hymen is still intact.”
The rapper’s comments about his daughter’s virginity has received major backlash online. People were mostly shocked that and appalled at the comments.

This hymen talk is very strange and at the core of it teaches your daughters their bodies aren’t theirs. Don’t do that.

So instead of celebrating the fact that his child lived another year, TI spends his time hyper-fixating on whether or not her hymen is intact? This is so overwhelmingly weird and toxic and he needs to be stopped

Also the fact that TI revealed this unashamedly really shows how the control of women’s bodies and the sexualization of minors, especially girls, is both commonplace and accepted in our society

asking a doctor to check your daughter to see if she has been having sex is humiliating & sick af.

& you can’t even always tell by a broken hymen. you can break your hymen by hurting yourself on a bike seat.
